About Damouchari
The most picturesque seaside village in Pelion!
Damouchari or Ntamouchari is a little settlement on the coast of East Pelion, facing the open Aegean sea, with special charm and long history. The village consists of two bays: the natural harbor on one side and the beach on the other. In between the two bays, there is a hill with the ruins of an old castle. The size of the village is really tiny and it takes only a couple of minutes walk (on flat surface) to go from one bay to the other.
Although small, it provides guests with all the basics: 3 tavernas, 2 cafes, a small grocery store and a souvenir shop. The very center of the village along both bays is car-free. Damouchari by no means feels or is overbuilt and the total capacity of its hotels and the guesthouses is very very reasonable. Architecture-wise, it is subject to the highest protection level and the strictest construction rules, making all recent buildings look in harmony with the old ones. Victoria's guesthouse is located in the center of the harbor bay... one of the first line buildings literally on the sea front.
The location of Damouchari is unique in Pelion, as it is the only natural harbor on the east coast... the only bay in the area that is so wide to receive big boats and at the same time goes so long inlands to give enough protection from rough seas. That is why it has been an important fishing refuge and earlier served as the main commercial harbor of the area.

Why Damouchari
-
Damouchari is the only seaside village in Pelion subject to the highest protection levels and the strictest architectural rules for both old and new buildings. As a result, the traditional identity has be preserved 100% and the special charm has been kept despite recent development.
-
Damouchari is the oldest seaside village in East Pelion, with the centuries-old buildings still dominating the harbor bay... justifying its strong historical past and enriching the mystical atmosphere.
-
Damouchari is not overbuilt. The number of buildings is not big and there is a lot of empty land and olive groves between the buildings. The total number of beds of all accommodations is not extreme and much lower than the potential capacity of the village. So, even in high season, the place does not feel full or overcrowded.
-
Damouchari is car free. Only provision cars are passing through the main alley. This fact combined with the small size of the village create an environment ideal for kids and assure that guests feel familiar and welcome in very short time.
-
All major businesses inside the core settlement have never changed ownership and remain still in hands of the same local people, who have direct ties with its past, and are all related to each other as descendants of Vainopoulos family. This family atmosphere results in a high degree of genuine authenticity, unlike destinations made to look artificially authentic, which is the new tourist trend.
-
Damouchari is located within the nicest, most natural and diverse part of the coastline in Pelion: the area from Damouchari to Fakistra beach. Complete wilderness, small bays one after the other, so different from each other, dramatic rock formations, huge cliffs, fresh water springs, sea caves, unspoilt beaches, jungle on the sea. The best example of Pelion's coastal landscape.
-
