Explore mountain villages and beaches

Damouchari is a great base to explore east Pelion... both the authentic mountain villages and the beaches, either by car or hiking. Located in the center of the east coast, there are plenty of destinations and circular routes both north and south of Damouchari.

As soon as you arrive we give you a briefing about the sights in the area and recommendations for longer or shorter circular car itineraries combining visits to traditional villages higher on the mountain and beaches below them. Some of them would be:

  • Damouchari - Agios Ioannis beach - Plaka beach - Kissos village - Mouresi village - Damoucahari

  • Damouchari - Agii Saranda beach - Horefto beach - Zagora village - Anilio village - Damouchari

  • Damouchari - Tsagkarada village - Limnionas beach - Mylopotamos beach - Mouresi village - Damouchari

  • Tour in South Pelion

Sea Kayaking & SUP

It is impossible to be in Damouchari without feeling attracted to explore the impressive sea coast around our location. In all Pelion coastline, there is no other piece of coast so dense in natural attractions, than from Damouchari until Fakistra beach. Three kilometers dense with all features that make East Pelion coast special: dramatic rock formations, jungle and fresh water springs right on the sea, large sea-caves and beaches with turquoise waters.

What a better and more eco-friendly way to explore all these than by a kayak. Apart from Victoria's guesthouse, we own also a water sports company, called Shakayak, that runs guided kayak day trips, starting and ending at Damouchari harbor in front of the guesthouse. Check all our trips and details in our website:  https://www.Shakayak.gr

  • For first-timers and families, we recommend the "Fakistra Sea Caves" tour, which takes about 4 hours on very stable sit-on-top double and triple kayaks, includes picnic, multiple stops for swimming, guiding about local history and covers a distance that everyone can do.

  • For more experienced in kayaking, we recommend the "Unspoilt Pelion Coast" tour, which takes all day, includes multiple stops for swimming, coffee, lunch and uses proper sit-in sea kayaks.

  • Another sea activity that we are also organizing, targeted to everyone, is paddleboarding, called also SUP (Stand Up Paddling).

Hiking

Damouchari is a main node in Pelion's extensive path network. That is because throughout the centuries Ntamouchari use to serve as the main supplies harbor of east Pelion, needed to be connected with the major villages of the area. Centuries-old cobbled paths (still preserved) are starting and finishing in Damouchari, giving a variety of long and short hiking options.

Upon your arrival, together with the briefing we provide about east Pelion sights, we recommend some circular hiking trails, such as:

  • Damouchari - Fakistra beach - Tsagkarada village - Damouchari

  • Damouchari - Mouresi village - Papa Nero beach - Damouchari

  • Damouchari - Mouresi village - Kissos village - Agios Dimitrios - Plaka beach - Agios Ioannis beach - Damouchari

The atmosphere and the surroundings are such, that everyone, who spends some time in Damouchari, feels tempted to do at least a short hike. For your better planning and self guiding we recommend you the following free hiking sites and apps:

We have to make a special reference to the "Long Pelion Trail", which is a multiday  planned trail of 168 km that runs all along Mount Pelion from the very north (Keramidi village) to the very south (Trikeri) and is crossing Damouchari.
